TMJ & Facial Pain clinic
TMJ & Facial Pain clinic
Pain that stays. Light that calms it. Jaw, face, knee, back and shoulder pain treated with gentle laser light. Drug free. No injections. Keep your prescribed medicines.

Is this for you?
Start with where it hurts.
- Your jaw joint (the TMJ, the hinge in front of each ear) clicks, locks or aches.
- Sudden, severe face pain (trigeminal neuralgia, a nerve in the face misfiring).
- Migraine (severe, recurring headache) or burning mouth (an ongoing hot or sore feeling in the mouth with no visible cause).
- Knee pain, back pain, or a frozen shoulder (a stiff, painful shoulder that will not move freely).
- Sciatica (pain running from the lower back down a leg) or fibromyalgia (pain across the whole body).
- Pain that medicine and injections have not settled.
What actually happens
He finds the cause before he treats the pain.
- 1
Show him where it hurts.
Dr. Yavagal asks when it started, what makes it worse, and what you have already tried.
- 2
A careful examination.
He checks the painful area, how it moves, and where it is tender, to understand what is driving the pain.
- 3
The right wavelength.
He chooses the kind of light that reaches the tissue involved and passes it over the area. Nothing is injected. Most people feel a faint warmth or nothing at all.
- 4
You see how you respond.
He tells you what to notice over the next days and whether another session, or a different next step, makes sense.
Why light
The plain-words guide.
Photobiomodulation
Light at a low level that calms irritated nerves and helps tissue repair itself. It does not cut, burn or numb.
Seven laser wavelengths
Seven kinds of treatment light. Each reaches a different depth, so he can treat a jaw joint, a nerve in the face, or a knee with the right one.
Drug free
The light treatment adds no medicine. Keep taking what your doctor has prescribed unless they tell you to change it.

In his words
Laser treatment for TMJ pain and trigeminal neuralgia
Trigeminal neuralgia and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pain are debilitating conditions affecting the trigeminal nerve, masticatory muscles, and surrounding head-and-neck structures, often resulting in severe pain and functional limitation. Non-invasive laser technology, particularly photobiomodulation (PBM) using appropriately selected multi-wavelength laser systems, offers a gentle, drug-free approach to pain management. By delivering therapeutic light to targeted tissues, PBM may help modulate neural activity, reduce inflammation and oxidative stress, improve local microcirculation, and support tissue repair. In carefully selected patients, this can contribute to reduction of neuropathic pain associated with trigeminal neuralgia as well as muscle, joint, and periarticular pain associated with TMJ disorders, providing a non-invasive adjunct to conventional multidisciplinary care.
- trigeminal neuralgia: sudden, severe pain from the nerve that carries feeling from your face.
- TMJ (temporomandibular joint): the jaw joint in front of each ear that helps your mouth open and close.
- masticatory muscles: the muscles you use to chew.
- photobiomodulation (PBM): low-level light treatment that may help cells repair and ease pain.
- multi-wavelength laser: a laser system that uses more than one kind of light, suited to different depths and tissues.
- neural activity: the signals that nerve cells send and receive.
- inflammation: the body's response to injury or irritation, which can cause swelling and pain.
- oxidative stress: damage that can happen when harmful molecules build up beyond the body's ability to control them.
- microcirculation: blood flow through the smallest blood vessels.
- tissue repair: the body's process of mending damaged cells and tissues.
- neuropathic pain: pain caused by damage or disease affecting nerves.
- periarticular: around a joint.
- multidisciplinary care: health professionals from different fields working together on your care.
