The loss that changed everything
Dr. Yavagal's father was diagnosed with cancer. Chemotherapy (strong cancer medicine) and radiation (treatment with high-energy rays) left him with painful mouth sores. Eating hurt. Speaking became hard. Relief was limited.
He lost his father soon after.
That helplessness became a question. If light could ease pain, support healing and give back dignity, why was photomedicine (treatment with light) still out of reach for so many? Why should Indian doctors depend on imported machines they could not afford?
The first spark
His work with lasers began while treating a newborn baby. The laser he needed was not his own. He had to rent one from a colleague.
It showed him a bigger problem. Indian dentists did not lack skill. They lacked access. Laser care was locked behind high prices, complex machines and fear of using them.
He studied the imported machines, worked out what made them costly and hard to use, and focused on what clinics actually need. Many called an affordable, high-quality laser impossible. He built it anyway.
NovoLase
The NovoLase mission
Affordable, practical, clinician-friendly healing.
He went on to co-found NovoLase Technologies. Its portable, easy-to-handle lasers were designed around the LaserVEDA way: affordable, practical, and friendly for the doctors who use them.
As a practising laser surgeon, Dr. Yavagal believes support is part of patient care. NovoLase trains and supports doctors after the machine is installed, so they can use it with confidence when patients need relief.
